India have already booked their slot in the Super 8 stages of T20 World Cup 2024, but will not want to take their opponents Canada lightly and will want to conserve the momentum they have built with three wins on the trot. Canada do have a small chance of qualifying to the Super 8s, but will need other results to go their way including having to beat India in this fixture.

India registered a slightly nervous win over USA in their last game following some nerves. India started strongly with the ball with Arshdeep Singh getting the better of Shayan Jahangir's first ball en route to the best bowling figures by an Indian in the marquee event. Steven Taylor and Nitish Kumar hung around, but Hardik Pandya was equally relentless in the middle overs and USA could only get 110.

Virat Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck in the first over of the chase by Saurabh Netravalkar who later dismissed Rohit Sharma in the powerplay as well and unfortunately dropped Suryakumar Yadav off his bowling. Rishabh Pant also departed, but Yadav hung on for a fifty with company from Shivam Dube to see India home amidst some drama.

At the start of the 16th over, India were awarded five penalty runs due to overrate breaches by USA and then the equation came down from 35 runs needed in 30 balls to 30 runs. That seemed to invigorate India again.

Canada did stun Ireland but fell to Pakistan. Aaron Johnson hung around long enough for a fifty on a difficult pitch, but a relentless bowling effort from Pakistan led by Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Shah Afridi restricted Canada to just 106. Despite Dilon Heyliger's efforts with the ball, the slowest fifty in T20 World Cup history by Mohammad Rizwan paired with a thirty from Babar Azam, who surprisingly demoted himself to number three, took Pakistan home by just enough to surpass USA's NRR.
