IPL 2024 is turning out to be an edition where history is being made each day. Records have tumbled while new records have been set by players and teams to write their names in the history books. Mohit Sharma, the veteran pacer from Gujarat Titans had a day to forget as he recorded the costliest figures in the history of the league.
Delhi Capitals ran up with a huge 224/4 on the board as Rishabh Pant, the DC skipper took the veteran pacer to the cleaners. When the final over of the innings began, Delhi Capitals were 193/4 looking good to go past the 200-run mark.
31 runs off the final over meant that Delhi Capitals could post yet another score in excess of 200 by a team in this season of IPL 2024. Mohit Sharma couldn’t believe his eyes as Pant hit him for three consecutive sixes off the last three balls of the innings.
Earlier this season, young South African pacer Kwena Maphaka had a terrible initiation into top-level cricket. The 17-year-old was smashed to all parts of the ground during the Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Mumbai Indians game.
It was the same match where SRH had posted 277 runs from 20 overs to post the then-highest IPL team total. Over the years the IPL has seen bowlers travel the distance and record horrific bowling figures.
