4. Most runs in a calendar year in women's international

Smriti Mandhana did what she does best and set more records along the way in a fantastic 2024. Mandhana set the record for the most runs by a player in women's international cricket in a calendar year, scoring 1659 runs from 37 matches with five centuries. 

While Mandhana had a year to remember, the Indian women's team did not as they finished runners up at the Asia Cup then and failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup semifinals. Their overall record in bilaterals was not pleasing either. However, India had a smooth time in both Tests and ODIs winnning the only Test they played this year and won three ODI series in a row towards the end of the year.

Along the way, Mandhana also broke the records for the most runs and fifties in women's T20Is and the most centuries in Women's ODIs in a calendar year. As a leader, Mandhana won the WPL with RCB.
