Top records broken in all cricket in 2024
From Nicholas Pooran's six-hitting to Smriti Mandhana's record year in ODIs, here are the top all-time records broken in cricket in 2024.
1. The only team to win a T20 World Cup unbeaten
India, under captain Rohit Sharma, brought smiles to a billion people's faces as the team won the T20 World Cup trophy after 17 years. The win ended India's 11-year title drought at ICC tournaments as the team had not won any tournament since the 2013 Champions Trophy.
The remarkable aspect of India's victory in 2024 was that they did not lose a single match in the entire tournament. Barring India's group gtage fixture against Canada, which was rained off even without the toss, India won all the matches.
India managed to wring out wins from situations that looked lost, especially in the group stage against Pakistan and then in the final against South Africa. Remarkably, those were the only two matches that India did not fully dominate and was made to fight for the win. It is fitting that India's unbeaten run to the title makes it as the top record broken in all of cricket in 2024.
