Afghanistan (AFG) will take on Australia (AUS) in Match 48, Super 8 of the ongoing T20 World Cup on Sunday, June 23, at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent. Notably, both sides met for a 20-20 game just two years ago at the Adelaide Cricket Ground in the 2022 edition where Australia inflicted a just 4-run loss on Afghanistan in a very close encounter.

In the ongoing tournament, in Super 8, Afghanistan have lost one match they have played. Thus, Afghanistan would like to get back to its winning momentum. On the other hand, Australia have won one match they have played in Super 8. Thus, Australia would like to continue their winning momentum.

Speaking about the last game of Afghanistan, they had a poor outing with a bat in the previous match where Azmatullah Omarzai 26(20) was the top scorer for them but Afghanistan was bundled out for just 134 chasing a decent target of 181 against India. Speaking about the bowling of Afghanistan, skipper Rashid Khan (4-1-7-3) bowled magnificently which helped Afghanistan to restrict India to less than 200. Fazalhaq Farooqi (4-0-33-3) also bowled superbly and gave excellent support to Rashid Khan. But Afghanistan did not get support from other bowlers as a result they conceded 181 runs which were above par and a challenging score on that pitch also against a powerful Indian bowling line-up. Afghanistan will be hoping all these will continue their good form and good support from their batters and also good support from other bowlers.

Speaking about the last game of Australia, David Warner 53*(35) played a magnificent match-winning innings which helped Australia to chase the under-par target very quickly. Travis Head 31(21) played superbly and gave excellent support to David Warner. Speaking about the bowling of Australia, Pat Cummins (4-0-29-3) who took the first Hat-trick in this edition, bowled magnificently which helped Australia to restrict Bangladesh to just 140. Adam Zampa (4-0-24-2) also bowled superbly and gave excellent support to Pat Cummins. Australia also got amazing support from other bowlers as a result they restricted Bangladesh to a low total and won the game by 28 runs by the DLS method because of rain. Hence, the Australians will be hoping all these will continue their good form.
