West Indies vs India, Second Test, Day 4 Stats Review: Mohammed Siraj's best bowling, Ishan Kishan's feat and other stats

A brilliant fifer from Mohammed Siraj, followed by quick-fire fifties from the duo of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan helped India set a massive 365 runs target in a rain-hit game. West Indies needs 289 runs on the final day to level the series while India need 8 wickets to whitewash the host

Speaking about the fourth day, West Indies started the day with an overnight score of 229/5, they batted just 7.4 overs and added 26 runs, as Mohammed Siraj rattled the tail by registering his second fifer in Tests. He also registered his best bowling figures in the Test innings. West Indies were bowled out for 255, giving India 183 runs lead in the first innings. 

India started the second innings in style in a rain-interrupted day. The openers got off to a flier as they went onto T20 mode, as they scored 50 runs in 5 overs. Rohit Sharma scored a 35-ball fifty, the third fastest by an Indian opener before getting dismissed to Shannon Gabriel for a 44-ball 57, while his partner Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed 30-balls-38 before miscuing a slog sweep to the wicket-keeper off Jomel Warrican. 

Ishan Kishan was promoted ahead of Virat Kohli and he justified his promotion by taking the bowlers to the cleaners as Kishan smashed 50 off 33 balls, the second fastest by an Indian wicket-keeper, while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten for a 37-ball 29. The duo of Kishan and Gill added 79 runs inside 12 overs before Rohit Sharma declared at 181/2 in 24 overs, leaving the target of 365 to get in four sessions for West Indies.

Chasing 365 in four sessions, West Indies got off to a decent start, before Ravichandran Ashwin drew the first blood by setting up Brathwaite for 52-ball 28. In his very next over Ashwin trapped debutant Kirk McKenzie for a duck. Blackwood batted 39 balls without losing his wicket, scoring 20 runs while Chanderpaul remained unbeaten on 24 off 98 balls as West Indies ended day four with 76 runs for the loss of two wickets

466 -Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal aggregated 466 runs for the first wicket in three innings, the third most by an opening pair in a two-match Test Series. Graeme Smith and Neil McKenzie aggregated 479 against Bangladesh in 2008, topping the list while 469 between Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram against Bangladesh in 2017 is next in the list.
