South Africa Women pulled off a big win against India Women to clinch the Women's T20I Tri-Series 2023 on Thursday (February 2). After winning three of four group-stage matches, including one against South Africa, the Indian team were the favourites to win the final. But the star-studded Women in Blue failed to impress in the final at the Buffalo Park in East London.
Indian captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, won the toss and elected to bat first but her decision backfired quickly. Star opener Smriti Mandhana was bowled out on a duck by Nonkululeko Mlaba as the Indian women's team lacked confidence for a big total. Harleen Deol top-scored with 46 runs but took 56 balls as the Indian team scored 109/4 in 20 overs.
South Africa also struggled for a good start as the game balanced for both teams. Star spin all-rounder Deepti Sharma bowled out star batter Laura Wolvaardt for a duck to keep the hopes of the visitors alive in the game. Sneh Rana took two wickets for 21 to put India in a driving seat as South Africa were struggling at 68/5 in 14 overs. But all-rounder Chloe Tryon, smashed an unbeaten 57 off 32 to guide the hosts to an easy five-wicket win with 12 balls to spare.

Player of the Final: Chloe Tryon
The 29-year-old batting all-rounder pulled off a memorable knock to help South Africa win the final. She scored 57* off 32 to register her first T20I fifty. She ended the chase with a big six to Sneh Rana's delivery and won the Player of the Match award.
Player of the Series & Highest Wicket-taker: Deepti Sharma
India's star spin all-rounder continues her red-hot form with some top-notch performances in this series. She took three wickets against South Africa in the opening clash and also made a mark in the final. Deepti bowled out star opener Laura Wolvaardt on a duck to give India the opening they needed. She took nine wickets from just four innings in this series and also scored 49 runs from two innings to bag the Player of the Series award.
Top Run-getter: Hayley Matthews
The world no. four T20I all-rounder, left a big mark in this series despite her team's loss in all four group-stage matches. West Indies skipper topped the scoring chart with 125 runs from four innings at an average of 41.66 and a strike rate of 100.80 and also took two wickets in three innings.
