West Indies will kick off their home schedule against South Africa.
Cricket West Indies has announced its home schedule for playing against South Africa, Australia, and Pakistan. While West Indies will lock horns with South Africa and Pakistan for Test and T20I series, it will play ODIs and T20Is against Australia. Their home schedule will kick off in June while playing against South Africa. The South Africa tour of West Indies will comprise of two-match Test and five-match T20I series.
The Test series will begin on 10th June and will end on 22nd June. On the other hand, the T20I series will take place during 26 June- July 3. Australia tour of West Indies will begin from July 9 with their 1st T20I and the T20I series will go on till July 16. West Indies’ ODI series against Australia will get underway between 20-24 July 2021.
Pakistan will tour West Indies for their last leg of the home schedule announced as of now. The two nations will rub shoulders against each other for the five-match T20I series between July 27- August 3. It will be followed by two-match Test series getting underway between August 12-August 24.
Carribeans last played against Sri Lanka across all formats of the game. The T20I series was won by West Indies 2-1 while they whitewashed Sri Lanka in the three-match ODI series. The two-match Test series resulted in a draw.
“It’s been hard work, we knew what we wanted to do – the guys at the top have done a fantastic job and allowed the middle-order to come into the game. Can’t think about that, they were upset that they couldn’t bat first on this wicket (on choosing to bowl today). But we knew if we took early wickets, we could restrict them to a low score and chase it down. The guys have worked hard, stuck their necks up to come out and perform every time. It’s nice to have different guys making hundreds, but this is a team effort – bowling variations, especially at the death, is something that’s important, and we need to work on that,” said Kieron Pollard after the ODI series win.
