WI vs IND: 3rd T20I to start at 9:30 PM IST, confirms Cricket West Indies (CWI)
The start of the second T2OI between India and West Indies was delayed by three hours.
Cricket West Indies has confirmed that there will be a delay in the start time for the third T20I between West Indies and India to provide ample time for recovery for the players. The start of the second T20I at Warner Park was delayed by three hours and the game started by 11 PM IST due to the delay in team luggage arrival in St. Kitts from Trinidad. The CWI noted it as ‘due to circumstances beyond their control’ while not particularly mentioning the reason behind the delay in arrival.
India has been used to playing day-night games at home for a long time now, however, the challenge is different in the West Indies conditions with the games starting early morning. The delayed start proved to be a lucky factor for the host nation as they bundled up India for 138 and chased down the score in 19.2 overs to level the series 1-1. Obed McCoy came up with a match-winning spell of 6 for 17 in his four overs and bagged the player of the match award in the second T20I.
The teams have agreed to start the third T20 Cup match at a later time: Cricket West Indies
The CWI stated that both teams, India and West Indies have agreed on an 12 Pm (9:30 PM IST) start for the third T20I to have adequate recovery time from the second game for the players. The statement noted that the next two T20I games in Florida have been considered while revising the schedule and mentioned that the stadium gates will open 90 minutes before the start. The statement further mentioned the price of the tickets and the platform to buy the tickets.
“Following the delayed start on Monday, the teams have agreed to start the third Goldmedal T20 Cup match at a later time to ensure that the players receive adequate rest and recover time for the back-to-back matches in St Kitts and in consideration of the back-to-back matches to come in Florida”, a statement from Windies cricket read.
“Stadium gates will open at 10:30am. Tickets are still available from the stadium box office for the matches in St Kitts with mounds/grounds tickets at US$15/EC$40 and seats from US$30/EC$80, or can be purchased directly through Windies Tickets, presented by Mastercard at “tickets.windiestickets.com” to save direct to your mobile device”, the statement added.
