India’s first-ever World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev has undergone Angioplasty after suffering a heart attack on Friday, October 23. He is admitted to a hospital in Delhi and is stable after undergoing surgery. The veteran cricketer is one of the finest cricketing talents India has ever produced. The all-rounder is a major reason behind the popularity of the sport in the country. Kapil Dev had changed the way people looked upon the game by registering a win over the mighty West Indies in the finals of the 1983 World Cup.
The news of the 61-year-old getting hospitalized after suffering from heart illness was first revealed by Economic Times journalist Teena Thacker via her official Twitter handle. It is also reported that the former cricketer had diabetes-related health issues as well.

In his illustrious international career spanning 16 years, Dev represented India in 131 Tests and 225 ODI Internationals scoring 5248 and 3783 runs respectively. He also made notable contributions with the ball by claiming 434 Test wickets along with 253 ODI scalps. He was also one of the fittest and finest fielders of his time.
