Cricketers around the world wish for Kapil Dev's speedy recovery
As soon as the news of Kapil Dev being hospitalized broke out on social media, the who's who of the cricket fraternity from all over the world came forward to extend their best wishes to the World Cup-winning captain and prayed for his speedy recovery.
India’s first-ever World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev has undergone Angioplasty after suffering a heart attack on Friday, October 23. He is admitted to a hospital in Delhi and is stable after undergoing surgery. The veteran cricketer is one of the finest cricketing talents India has ever produced. The all-rounder is a major reason behind the popularity of the sport in the country. Kapil Dev had changed the way people looked upon the game by registering a win over the mighty West Indies in the finals of the 1983 World Cup.
The news of the 61-year-old getting hospitalized after suffering from heart illness was first revealed by Economic Times journalist Teena Thacker via her official Twitter handle. It is also reported that the former cricketer had diabetes-related health issues as well.
Teena tweeted, “Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev @therealkapildev suffers heart attack, undergoes angioplasty at a hospital in Delhi. Wishing him a speedy recovery.”
In his illustrious international career spanning 16 years, Dev represented India in 131 Tests and 225 ODI Internationals scoring 5248 and 3783 runs respectively. He also made notable contributions with the ball by claiming 434 Test wickets along with 253 ODI scalps. He was also one of the fittest and finest fielders of his time.

MP Shashi Tharoor said, “Concerned to learn that the legendary #KapilDev has suffered a heart attack & is in hospital. His mighty heart won many a battle for India. Wishing him the very best in winning this one too.”
A plethora of cricketers including the likes of spin legend Anil Kumble, Aakash Chopra, Shikhar Dhawan, Irfan Pathan, and Suresh Raina took to their official Twitter handle to wish the Indian legend a speedy recovery.
