The former India opener batted in a classical mould and had the temperament suited to play long innings. He announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in February 2015. He played 10 Tests scoring 437 runs with the help of 2 fifties. He provided solid starts for India in Australia as Virender Sehwag’s opening partner. He played 162 First-Class matches scoring 10839 runs at an average of 45.35 that include 29 hundreds and 53 fifties.

Jonathan Trott announced his retirement from international after his disappointing performances as an opener during England’s three-Test tour of the West Indies in 2015. This series was a comeback series for him, however, he had a miserable tour making three ducks in 6 innings. One of England’s best batsmen, Trott leaves the international arena with an average of 44.08 from 52 Test matches scoring 3835 runs with the help of 9 centuries and 19 fifties. He played 68 one-day internationals scoring 2819 runs at an average of 51.25 including 4 tons and 22 fifties. He also played 7 T20Is scoring 138 runs with one half-century. He is an Ashes winner was considered the rock of England’s batting. A stress-related illness played a part in bringing his playing career to an abrupt end.
