Cricketing fraternity wishes Rohit Sharma on his birthday
Rohit Sharma is currently one of the stalwarts in the Indian lineup.
Rohit Sharma, when he forayed into international cricket a decade ago, was touted to be one of the brightest prospects of Indian cricket. However, he couldn’t quite live up to the expectations and his career was marred by inconsistent performance, Subsequently, he lost his place in the team on quite a few occasions. However, the situation turned for the better for the Mumbai-born cricketer.
He is now a seasoned campaigner and one of India’s most reliable batsmen, especially in ODIs and T20Is. He is the only batsman to have three double centuries in his kitty against Sri Lanka and Australia respectively, which is no mean feat by any stretch of the imagination. The prodigious talent has also scored some runs in Tests as all, however, hasn’t quite been able to cement his position.
The challenge ahead for Rohit
In March, he captained the national team in Sri Lanka for the triangular series against them and Bangladesh. The squad was devoid of most of their big names as they were rested and Rohit had a stern task in his hands. However, he managed to inspire the team and won them the title. He is currently the skipper of the Mumbai Indians and the franchise needs a similar kind of inspiration from him.
Mumbai have won a couple out of their seven games in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League. They are staring at elimination and needs a motivational tonic from here onwards. Rohit’s form has also been jittery and whenever he has failed to deliver, Mumbai have faltered. Meanwhile, he also has played a couple of prolific knocks against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
He is celebrating his 31st birthday and wishes have poured in for him from every nook and corner of the country. The cricketing fraternity has also showered him with heart-warming messages on the auspicious occasion.
