The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. The 41st match of the 2019 World Cup took place between England and New Zealand at the Riverside Ground in Chetser-le-Street. After the hosts elected to bat first, they managed to put 305 for eight on the board in 50 overs. Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy gave their teams blistering starts with a partnership of 123 runs from 18.4 overs.

Bairstow followed his ton versus India with another one, but got out to Matt Henry soon after. Murali Kartik, the former Indian bowler, felt that the duo is fast and ferocious. He also felt that the Black Caps had a lot of catching up to do after two defeats in a row. Brad Hogg wanted Ben Stokes to bat at number five. English captain Eoin Morgan came in at number four and didn’t find his timing, though he got 42.

Russel Arnold was all praises for the Kiwis bowling lineup for their incredible comeback after getting hammered by the English top order batsmen. In the meantime, Ambati Rayudu has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after being left out of the Indian squad for the ongoing World Cup. Indian captain Virat Kohli, Irfan Pathan and many others wished Rayudu on a decent career and on a happy future.

Gautam Gambhir, who retired last year, blamed the BCCI for Rayudu’s sudden decision. Legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh turned 39 today and the cricketing fraternity wished him on the auspicious occasion. Ravindra Jadeja slammed commentator Sanjay Manjrekar left, right and centre for his comments. Previously, Manjrekar called Jadeja as a ‘bits and pieces’ player.
