Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unforeseen announcement to immediately scrap of the Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 currency notes left everyone stunned. The PM stated that the dramatic move was a necessary step towards curbing terror financing, corruption and black money.
In his 40-minute address, first in Hindi and later in English, the Prime Minister said the notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 “will not be legal tender from midnight tonight” and these will be “just worthless piece of paper.”
As the news started to trickle in about the new Rs.500 and Rs.2,000 notes in circulation, people took to social media to express their views. The news took the social media by a storm. The smart move was welcomed greatly by the masses and PM Modi was lauded for taking such a bold move.
The effect was clearly visible among Indian cricketers as well. Virender Sehwag quickly dropped his thought in his funny style, Harbhajan Singh, Mohammad Kaif and Parthiv Patel also expressed their happiness through tickling memes.

So no Rs 500/1000 notes from tonight. Interesting to see whether it ends up attacking black money. Hopefully will work.

While all these tweets attracted a good amount of attentions from the tweeple, one tweet grabbed the attention of Prime Minister Modi himself. Indian head coach Anil Kumble also tweeted appreciating the bold move and wrote: Massive googly bowled by our Hon. PM @narendramodi today. Well done Sir! Proud of you!!
Kumble really impressed PM Modi with his tweet and got a equally impressive reply from him. Modi tweeted: This coming from one of India’s most admired cricketers, whose bowling caught many batsmen by surprise.
