As the year 2021 was able to cover up the loss of cricketing action caused by 2020. The pandemic affected the events badly and there was a minimal amount of play in 2020. However, fans witnessed the rise of many players in 2021,

Teams like South Africa have found redemption as they have put up solid performances throughout the season. Adding on, England has been slipping down as their batsmen have been unable to give them consistent starts. Team India, to have played a decent level of cricket this year in the limited-overs format.

The T20 World Cup was the highlight of the calendar. Apart from that, we have tried to assemble a team of superstars who have managed to make a mark in the 50 over format. Here is the-

ODI team of the year as per the CricTracker fans

1. Janneman Malan: South Africa 

For quite some time, South Africa has been performing poorly. Their batting lacked consistency and depth. However, Jannemann Malan has been outstanding this year. In the seven matches he has played, he has scored 509 runs with a huge average of 84.83. 

 2. Shai Hope: West Indies (wicketkeeper)

 The opening slot is one of the most important ones in any format. And to put up a solid partnership upfront, we have Shai Hope. Being a technically sound batter, he can anchor the innings. This year, with 310 runs and an average of 62, Hope brings a balance in the opening slot.

 3.  Babar Azam: Pakistan (captain)

 Babar Azam made it to the headlines after he replaced Virat Kohli as the number one batter in the format. His technique is a treat to watch and this year, he has been the best batter in the white-ball format. In six innings, Azam has scored 405 runs with an average of 67.50. Consistency is what he brings to the table.

 4. Rassie Van Der Dussen: South Africa 

 Most of the fans came to know about Rassie because of his stellar performances during the T20 World Cup. But, he has been exceptional in the 50 over format as well. In six innings, Rassie has scored 312 runs with an average of 62.40. Adding on, he can accelerate the scoring rate when required. 

5. Charith Asalanka : Sri Lanka 

 Just like South Africa, Sri Lanka has a plethora of upcoming talents, and Charith Asalanka is one of them. With 7 innings to his name in 2021, he has managed to score 326 runs. Adding on, he has an impressive average of 46.57 this year. His aggressive style of play is an asset for any team.

 6. Mahmudullah Riyad: Bangladesh 

 Mahmudullah has been the backbone of the Bangladesh squad after he has taken up the role as a senior player of the team. In 10 innings, he has scored 399 runs. He has been consistent with the bat and an average of 57 shows the same. At six, he provides some well-needed stability to the lineup.

 7. Krunal Pandya: India

Krunal Pandya made his ODI debut this year against a strong English lineup. In his first match, he scored an impressive half-century. This year, he has managed to score 130 runs in 4 innings. He averages 65 in the ODI format. His attacking approach and useful bowling skills are an asset for this team.

 8. Shakib Al Hasan: Bangladesh 

Shakib Al Hasan will go down as one of the greats of the game. Year after year, he has been the standout performer for Bangladesh. This year as well, he has picked 17 wickets in nin innings. Adding on, he can bat anywhere in the lineup. His flexibility makes the team stronger.

 9. Sandeep Lamichhane: Nepal 

 A legspinner has always been a match-winner for any team. This year, Sandeep Lamichhane has been the one for his side. In five games, he has picked 18 wickets at a bowling average of 7.38. He has gained exposure by playing in a variety of leagues around the world. Hence, he has been effective in this format.

 10. Mustafizur Rahman: Bangladesh 

 Also known as the “Fizzz”, Mustafizur Rahman has been consistent with the ball this year. He has picked 18 wickets in 10 games at an average of 21.55. The best part about his bowling is that he can bowl in any phase of the game. His variations are sometimes unplayable.

 11. Mitchell Starc: Australia 

 One thing that comes to mind when we hear the name “Starc” is pace. And this year, he has been highly effective. The left-arm pacer has played 3 games and picked 11 wickets. Adding on, he has a terrific bowling average of 10.63 in this format. This makes him the frontline bowler of the lineup.
