The IPL began way back in the year 2008 and it has already completed its 10 editions. Initially, the fans did not have too much idea about what to expect from the league. For the first time, there were overseas players playing alongside Indians. The fans across the country were always accustomed to supporting only one team &#8211; India. Post the introduction of the IPL, they were now divided into supporting different cities based franchises. Gradually, the league became an indifferent part of the cricketing calendar of the country and now whenever it&#8217;s on, there is so much interest amongst the cricketing world.

The people who are responsible for making it a major hit are the players who sweat it out on the field during the Indian summer. Over the years. there have been hundreds of players who have played in the league and are the pioneers of IPL. As the coveted league became a decade old, we thought of creating a playing XI that consists of the best players from the 10 seasons.

After analyzing numerous records, we have come up with a Dream XI which has such players who have been the most impactful in their teams&#8217; success. There are chances that players who are amongst the top wicket-takers or leading run-scorers might not make the list, that&#8217;s because, despite their great stats, their teams didn&#8217;t have a good record.

Here&#8217;s presenting the CricTracker&#8217;s IPL Dream XI after 10 seasons:

The Delhi lad has been one of the key members of the IPL over the years. He featured initially in the Delhi Daredevils squad for the first 3 seasons but after two average outings, he was released from the squad. Kolkata Knight Riders bought him from the auction in the year 2011 for a whopping $2.4 million that made him the costliest player of IPL. He has been in the KKR line-up ever since and has been the captain of the side.

In the initial season, DD made it to the semi-final where Gambhir was the second highest run-getter in the league. After he became the captain of KKR in 2011, he revived the fortunes of the team that made it to the playoffs for the first time. In 2012, he led the side to its first ever IPL title where he was the second highest run-getter of the season. KKR once again became the champions in 2014 under Gambhir&#8217;s leadership. In the 2017 edition, KKR made it to the playoffs but lost in the second Qualifier against Mumbai Indians.

The left-hander has been instrumental in KKR&#8217;s success since he joined the team. His batting up the order has been pivotal for his team and he is currently 4th on the list of leading run-getters in IPL history. He also has the second-most number of half-centuries and struck the highest number of fours in the league. Not just his batting, the captaincy has been so important for KKR that has led them to 2 titles.

The Australian has been an integral part of the IPL since the second edition. He played for Delhi Daredevils from 2009 to 2013. In the 7th season, he was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for USD 880,000. He was appointed the captain of the SRH side in 2015 and till date, he has been the leader of the pack.

In the second season with DD, he struck his first century of IPL and in 2013, ended up as the leading run-getter for his side. A big turn in his fortunes arrived when he moved to SRH. He led the side in 2015 and won the Orange Cap but his side narrowly missed out on a playoff spot. The SRH side was heavily dependent on him as he proved to be the best batsmen of the side by far.

In 2016, he raised his game a few notches and led his side to the ultimate glory by lifting the IPL trophy. He amassed 848 runs in 17 matches at an average of 60.57 that included 9 half-centuries and was once again the highest scorer for his side and the second highest overall. In the 10th edition, his team made it to the playoffs but lost in the Eliminator match but Waner once again won the Orange Cap. He also holds the record for the most number of half-centuries in IPL.

Virat Kohli is one of the few cricketers who have been associated with just one team since the inception of IPL. He is donning the colors of Royal Challengers Bangalore since 2008. The Delhi lad was bought by the franchise for USD 30,00 in the first edition when he was a youngster who was coming up the ranks of Indian cricket. Year by year, he grew into stature and became the captain of the side from the year 2013.

RCB made it to the final of the league in 2009 where they lost to Deccan Chargers. He had indifferent first few seasons but was the only player retained by the franchise ahead of the 4th season. In 2013, he was the third highest run-getter in the league but his side missed out of a playoff spot by a narrow margin. In the season that followed, his side made it to the playoff and he was the premier contributor with the bat.

The best time of his IPL career arrived in 2016 where he scored 4 centuries in a single tournament and became the first batsman to do so. He notched up a massive 973 in 16 matches which is the most by a batsman in a single season. RCB made it to the final but lost to SRH. He is currently the second highest run-getter in the IPL history only behind Suresh Raina and did manage to overtake him on a couple of occasions in 2017.

Rohit Sharma was initially picked up by Deccan Chargers in the first auction for USD 750,000. He stayed with the side for 3 years but moved to Mumbai Indians when he bagged the bid of USD 2 million. Midway through the 2013 season, he was appointed as the skipper of the side after the poor performance of Ricky Ponting as the leader. He has been the prominent captain of the side ever since.

He was the second highest run-getter for DC in the first season and once again was amongst the runs in the next season where his side lifted the trophy. He played a key role on the bouncy tracks of South Africa and was awarded the best Under-23 player of the season. He went on to lead the Mumbai Indians side in 2013 season and the team won the trophy for the first time.

Under his leadership, MI entered the playoffs in 2014 and became the champions once more in 2015. In the following season, they made it to the playoffs and won the championship for the third time in 2017. Rohit became the most successful captain in IPL history as he captained his side to 3 IPL titles. The right-hander is the only player to be a part of 4 IPL winning squads.

The left-hander was signed by Chennai Super Kings for USD 650,000 in the inaugural season. He was one of the most valuable players for his side and was retained by the franchise ahead of the 2011 auction. He stayed with CSK until 2016 when the franchise was banned and moved to Gujarat Lions where he captained the team.

Raina achieved a unique feat of scoring more than 400 runs in 7 straight seasons from 2008 to 2014 and always ended up amongst the top 10 run-getters of the seasons. His batting at number 3 was so crucial for CSK and he won countless matches for them. He could play the role of an innings builder or go after the bowling from the outset given the state of the match.

Raina played a pivotal role in CSK&#8217;s triumphs in 2010 and 2011. He became the captain of the Lions side in the 9th edition and his side finished on top of the points table after the league stage. The UP lad is the current leading run-getter in IPL history and also the most consistent across all seasons.

The former captain of India was bagged by Chennai Super Kings in the first edition for USD 1.5 million that made him the costliest player of the season. He was named the captain of the franchise and did the duties from 2008 until 2015. In 2016, he moved to Rising Pune Supergiant where he led the side in its season but was removed from the captaincy for the 10th season.

There is hardly anyone close to Dhoni when it comes to having an impact on the team&#8217;s result. In the first season, CSK were the runners-up, semi-finalist in 2009, winners in 2010 and 2011, runners-up in 2012 and 2013, finished third in 2014 and runners-up in 2015. Under his leadership, the CSK side made it to the final fours in each season and was the only team to do so.

However, while leading RPS, he didn&#8217;t have the same success as the team finished second from the bottom on the points table in 2016. The captaincy was handed over to Steven Smith in the 10th edition but Dhoni was always involved in decision-making and the side made it to the final where they lost to Mumbai Indians.

The West Indian played for Mumbai Indians for the first three seasons and was picked up by Chennai Super Kings in 2011. After the suspension of CSK, he went on to play for Gujarat Lions in 2016. But due to a hamstring injury, he missed the whole of the 10th season.

Bravo has been one of the most impactful players of all time in IPL. He would literally walk into any T20 side in the world. His abilities with the bat, ball and field remain unmatched till date. Although he wasn&#8217;t that successful while playing for MI but the big break arrived when he played for CSK. In 2012, he scored 416 runs and picked up 19 wickets which was the most for his side.

He claimed the Purple Cap in 2013 by taking 32 wickets and once again in 2015 having 26 wickets to his name. For GL as well, he played a crucial role and picked up 17 wickets that helped them finish on top of the points table. He missed out the last season but is still the 5th highest wicket-taker of all time in IPL.

The off-spinner was bagged by Mumbai Indians in 2008 and has been part of their squad ever since. He has been a key member of the squad in every single season and is one of the core members. Due to his stature, the franchise retained him before the 2011 auction. Bhajji also captained the MI side to a triumph in Champions League in 2011.

Harbhajan was the 4th highest wicket-taker in the 2010 edition and the second highest for his side that ended up as the runners-up. In 2013, he bagged 24 wickets and was third on the list of leading wicket-takers as his side won the league for the first time. Once more, in his team&#8217;s triumph in 2015, he played an important role by claiming 18 wickets.

Although he never managed to get the Purple Cap yet he was always the go-to bowler for his captain. Due to his consistency in lines and length, he was always economical and it shows in the overall economy rate of just 6.95. Not just with the ball, he has played some useful cameos with the bat too.

After his impressive showing in the domestic season, he earned a contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009. Later, in 2011, he moved to play for Pune Warriors India and after the dissolution of the franchise was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and has been a prominent member of the side since then.

The fast bowler was a gentle medium pacer who could swing the ball both ways in the first few seasons of IPL. He wasn&#8217;t that effective earlier but came to the fore in 2014 while playing for SRH. He bagged 20 wickets in 14 matches and was the leading wicket-taker for his side and the third overall.

His best performance came in the 9th season where he claimed 23 wickets and won the Purple Cap and played a vital role in his team conquering the IPL title for the first time. In the season that followed, he once again bagged the Purple Cap with 26 and became the only player to achieve the feat consecutively. He is currently 6th in the list of leading wicket-takers of all time in IPL.

The influence of the West Indian players has been huge ever the inception of IPL. One of the major contributors from the Carribean has been the mystery spinner &#8211; Sunil Narine. He was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012 and has been a permanent member of the line-up since then.

Narine was an unknown commodity in his initial season and not too many had seen what he was capable of doing. With so many variations in bowling with minimal changes in action, he troubled every batsman and picked up 24 wickets as his side became the champion.

He was once again amongst the wickets in the season that followed. In 2014, KKR won its second title and Narine played a key role by picking up 21 wickets and ended up as the second highest wicket-taker of the league. In the 10th season, he showcased the other aspect of his game as he opened the batting for KKR and went after bowling from the outset and struck the fastest fifty of IPL off just 15 balls.

The Sri Lankan pacer was picked to play for Mumbai Indians in the first edition. A lot of personnel changed in the MI line-up but Malinga has stayed firm in the squad. With his masterful bowling, he is perhaps the biggest contributor in the IPL of all time.

Malinga won the Purple Cap in the 4th season when he picked up 28 wickets and in the year that followed, finished third on the list. In 2013, he made a huge impact with the ball once more and his 20 wickets played a crucial role in handing MI their first IPL victory.

In 2015., when MI won the title for the second time, Malinga bagged 24 wickets and finished second amongst the leading wicket-takers. His performances dipped a little in the following seasons but he delivered at the right time once more. His crucial spell in the final of 2017 handed MI their third title. Malinga is currently the leading wicket-taker in IPL history by far.
