India are currently toiling in the Jharkhand Cricket Association (JCA) Stadium in Ranchi, where the match is heading towards a draw, but the crowd went wild when former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was seen spotted in the stadium watching the side’s gripping contest against Australia on the 5th day of their third Test against Australia at his home ground.

MS Dhoni, who missed out on attending the first four days of the Test due to his commitments in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with Jharkhand, was present at the stadium on Monday. Dhoni’s Jharkhand had a good run until the semi-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which they eventually lost to Bengal.

The Ranchi crowd apparently had not much to cheer about on the fifth day, but immediately after Dhoni appeared on the giant screen, waving to his faithful fans from the balcony, the crowd went into a frenzy.

India, who posted a mammoth total of 603/9 decl. in their first innings, in reply to Australia’s 451, looked like they would force an innings defeat upon Australia on Monday. But after a good start from Matt Renshaw and Steve Smith in the first session of the day, Peter Handscomb and Shaun Marsh averted that and guided the visitors past the Indian total and gained a lead.

Earlier today, the skipper’s mobile phones, which went missing after a fire broke out at the Delhi hotel where Dhoni and his teammates were putting up, were recovered. The former Indian captain was frustrated after his phones went missing, and had filed an FIR at the Dwarka police station in Delhi. As per reports, the mobiles were taken by the firefighters ‘by mistake’.

The fans will next get to see their superstar on the television when the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League begins on April 5 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad. Dhoni, who will play for the Pune Supergiants, will start the campaign with their first match against the Mumbai Indians.
