CSA shares special congratulatory messages for team South Africa
“The cricket played by both sides has lived up to everything we could have expected," CSA Chief quoted.
Team South Africa registered a clinical win over India in the Centurion Test. With the 135-run win, the Proteas ended the 9-series winning streak of the Indian team. The congratulatory messages came in flooding for the South African side after their series win. Among the lot, even the Cricket South Africa (CSA) shared special messages for their team.
As per the quotes in Sport24, the CSA Chief Executive congratulated the South African team and the team management on their monumental effort. He remarked that the margins of the wins in the two matches thus far in the series has been very narrow. Also, team India has shown great resilience in the tough conditions. Hence, Proteas deserve all the credit for toppling the number one ranked side.
“Congratulations to our captain, Faf du Plessis, our head coach, Ottis Gibson, and all the players and management on what has been a real team effort. In spite of the margins of victory this has been a very competitive series between the top two sides on the ICC rankings list and I am sure we will get more of the same in the remaining match,” commented CSA Acting Chief Executive, Thabang Moroe.
Cricket living up to the expectations
The on-field competition that the two sides have put up has been immense and has been a delight to watch. Moroe noted the same and expressed his happiness over the quality of cricket living up to all the expectations. He also congratulated the two young recruits of the team – Aiden Markram and Lungi Ngidi – for having been very impressive in the outing.
“The Freedom Series, which also honors two great leaders of our respective countries, Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi, has a connotation that goes beyond the game of cricket and represents a wonderful tradition and celebration,” Moroe quoted.
“The cricket played by both sides has lived up to everything we could have expected. What is particularly pleasing from a South African point of view is that two young players in their first summer of Test cricket – Aiden Markram and Lungi Ngidi – have contributed significantly to this success,” he added.
Good day for South Africa cricket
Commenting further, the CSA Chief remarked that the day has indeed been a good one for the cricket in South Africa. Earlier in the day, South Africa U19 had beaten the defending champions West Indies U19 in the ICC U19 World Cup. And later in the day, South Africa thumped the number one ranked Indian team in the Centurion Test.
“It has been a wonderful day for South Africa with our Under-19 boys also beating defending champions the West Indies to qualify for the quarter-finals of the ICC Junior World Cup,” the CSA Chief conceded.
