Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is regarded as one of the most successful franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The MS Dhoni-led side has clinched the trophy thrice and are considered as one of the favourites to win the upcoming IPL season. With the IPL 2020 auction being just a month away, franchises have started shortlisting the players on whom they will be splurging their cash.
On 14th November, CSK had sent a tweet, informing the fans that the team would be releasing five players from their squad. On November 15th, the team, in a series of tweets, named those 5 players, along with making the fans aware of their remaining purse money. All the five players were a part of the franchise for two seasons but failed to cement their spot in the squad.
Fans eager to see MS Dhoni’s comeback
MS Dhoni, who has been an integral part of CSK since the inception of IPL, has been away from the game for quite a while now. Ever since India’s semi-final exit from the ICC World Cup 2019 against New Zealand in August, a lot of rumours have been circulating regarding Dhoni‘s retirement. Fans are eager to see Dhoni return to action while donning CSK jersey in the upcoming IPL season.
However, a fan attempted to circulate a rumour regarding MS Dhoni’s future when IPL franchises were about to release players from their squad. The fan claimed that the Chennai skipper will be released by the franchise. “As per Close Sources, @ChennaiIPL #CSK planning to drop MSD tomorrow! Might be very well his way of saying “Goodbye Chennai,” his post read on Twitter.
