The league stages of the IPL have come to an end and teams have figured out the winning combination that will help them get positive results in the playoffs. The knockout games are high-pressure matches and it is completely a different ball game. On a given day, any team can beat the other and emerge out on top.

The Chennai Super Kings have been one of the most consistent teams of the IPL as they have made it to the playoffs in all the seasons that it has been a part of. In the current season, the yellow army finished second will face the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first Qualifier. CSK’s batting has been their strength while their death bowling has been an area of concern. Dwayne Bravo, Dhoni’s go-to man in previous seasons hasn’t had a good time with the ball. The batsmen have started to pick him up and smash him to all parts of the ground.

All bases covered

The addition of Lungi Ngidi has boosted CSK’s bowling as the South African pacer has looked very good in the few matches that he has played. Kris Srikkanth, former Indian captain feels that CSK should use Ngidi at the death rather than continue with Dwayne Bravo. “Chennai Super Kings have struggled with their death bowling. Ngidi, in my opinion, is a better option than Bravo at the end. Ngidi’s pace can be unsettling while Bravo becomes a touch predictable towards the final overs,” wrote Srikkanth in his column for TOI.

Though Bravo has taken 11 wickets this season, his economy has been over 10 runs an over which is very poor by his standards. CSK have conceded big totals this season but their impressive batting has overshadowed the weakness. Ngidi’s nine wickets in five games at an economy of 6.11 might have just solved the biggest weakness of the Chennai Super Kings.

Srikkanth also added that the form of MS Dhoni has been a good news for CSK fans. Dhoni averages over 90 and has scored 446 runs while batting down the order. He is looking as good as ever and is striking the ball cleanly. It is going to be very tough for the opposition to stop the high-flying Chennai Super Kings.
