Lucknow Super Giants had a debut season to remember, as they won nine out fourteen games and were placed third on the points table despite sharing equal number of wins with Rajasthan Royals, due to a marginally lesser net run-rate.
They failed to go past the Eliminator as they lost to RCB by a close margin of 14 runs. KL Rahul enjoyed the 2022 season, being the second leading run-getter in the tournament. He, along with Quinton de Kock, registered a world-record 210 runs partnership for the first-wicket in Match 66 against KKR in IPL 2022.
Chennai Super Kings will seek to build upon the momentum they gained last year, with them being their fifth title. The Dhoni-led Chennai have added the likes of Rachin Ravindra and Daryll Mitchell to the team in this edition and the return of Shardul Thakur will see them have a good balance between bat and ball. There are numerous international all-rounders and game-changers in the CSK camp, and they aim to continue their successful run.

LSG managed to do the season double over CSK in IPL 2024. The latest of those matches, Match no. 39 of IPL 2024 held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and subjected all the viewers to an absolute thriller. Batting first, CSK rode on the back of Ruturaj Gaikwad's unbeaten century and an aggressive fifty to push CSK to 210. If LSG were going to win, they would have had to pull off the highest successful at Chennai in the IPL. LSG's chase looked bleak when Quinton de Kock was dismissed for a duck, and none of the other batters made a very significant contribution, but Marcus Stoinis promoted to No. 3, responded with a century of his own and with support from Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hooda's pyrotechnics, put LSG over the finish line.
