CSK vs SRH: Live Streaming, Match Preview, Timings, Stats, Pitch Report & more for Dream11 IPL, Match 14
After a convincing performance in their last game, Sunrisers Hyderabad would be keenly looking towards building a platform for themselves ahead, whereas after an uncharacteristic start to the tournament, Chennai Super Kings would be itching for a win.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be back in action after a long break when they come out against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, on 2nd October 2020. This year’s IPL has been different in not one, but way too many ways. As if the social distancing protocols, the bio-secure bubble, and the host of the standard operating procedures were not enough, this edition has shown us the rarest of sights: the mighty Chennai Super Kings exploring the depth of the points tally.
CSK started their journey on a winning note as they defeated Mumbai Indians in the opening clash of the edition. However, the story for them has been dull in a couple of games that have followed as they lost to Rajasthan Royals by 16 runs followed by a 44-run loss against the Delhi Capitals in their third match of the season. The Yellow Army has quite a few concerns, and that was always going to be the case with a couple of mainstays missing from their ranks. That said, the ones available have not been able to make a mark either.
Chasing 216 against RR in the first game, skipper MS Dhoni’s tactics were questioned as he walked in at No. 7 despite his team chasing a gigantic target. Not just him, but the entire team, except Faf du Plessis, seemed lacking intent. In the third game, the target was much lesser for the team. However, the batsmen failed to stand up and deliver even in a 176-run chase as CSK lost the game by 44 runs. Further, the concerns in the bowling unit have not been any less as CSK has neither been able to grab wickets nor restrict the scoring.
On the other hand, the Sunrisers Hyderabad unit has also not had the best of starts. While they lost their first game by 10 runs against the Royal Challengers Bangalore after putting themselves in the driving seat, they lost their second encounter to Kolkata Knight Riders by a much bigger margin of 7 wickets. However, in this game, the Orange Army is coming in with valuable momentum as they defeated the Delhi Capitals by 15 runs.
After a convincing performance in their last game, SRH would be keenly looking towards building a platform for themselves ahead, whereas after an uncharacteristic start to the tournament, CSK would be itching to do what they are known for: winning.
Pitch and conditions
The track at Dubai has given ample support to both batsmen and bowlers. There has been swing on offer at the start of the game, whereas the spinners have got the purchase in the middle overs. The boundaries at Dubai, unlike Sharjah, are quite long and therefore, the matches have not been as high scoring. However, the average first innings score (180) has been competitive enough to put up good shows. The presence of dew has made the life of bowlers and fielders difficult and the same is expected in this game.
Playing Combinations for CSK vs SRH
Chennai Super Kings Probable 11
The openers – Murali Vijay and Shane Watson – have been sloppy and lethargic for the team and have not been able to provide any starts. Ambati Rayudu, who missed out due to a mild hamstring injury, is available and fit for selection and that will be a sigh of relief for the CSK camp.
Further, the champion all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who has been dealing with a similar niggle, is also back and will be seen in action. With Rayudu joining the top-order and Bravo coming in alongside Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, and Deepak Chahar, the entire lineup appears much settled.
Probable 11- Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Ruturaj Gaikwad/Murali Vijay, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Piyush Chawla, Deepak Chahar
Sunrisers Hyderabad Probable 11
The last game for Warner and Bairstow was fruitful as they provided a flying start to their team. The star performer Manish Pandey missed out after two good performances in succession, however, Kane Williamson, who played for the first time, made his entry in style with a blazing knock. With Abdul Samad coming inside the team, the batting combination of SRH appears well-balanced.
Rashid Khan found his rhythm in the last game as he bagged three wickets at an unreal economy rate. Further, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natrajan also had a decent outing as they got three wickets between them. Khaleel Ahmed has leaked runs and has not been too impressive, although a change in this combination is not expected.
Probable 11- David Warner (C), Jonny Bairstow (WK), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma, Priyam Garg/Vijay Shankar, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, T Natarajan
