Team South Africa managed to register a clinical win against Sri Lanka in their first game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. It was a thoroughly clinical performance from South Africa that saw them beat the Islanders by 96 runs in the match. With the bat, Hashim Amla was the hero for the South African team. On the other hand, it was Imran Tahir who proved to be the star with the ball.

Tahir returned with a four-wicket haul to his name in the match. Tahir returned with figures of 4/27 in the 8.3 overs that he bowled on the day. Needless to say, Imran Tahir has been a very clinical bowler for the Proteas camp in the recent past. He is among the top rated bowlers in world cricket at the moment.

While his bowling was bound to make news, there was another aspect of his bowling that took the limelight. Tahir is known for his epic celebrations after taking a wicket. He takes off for a big run every time he takes a wicket. He runs away from all the fielders as he heads towards the stands. Meanwhile, his teammates often try to play the catching game to celebrate with him.

Technology catches the speed

The ongoing edition of the Champions Trophy has some very innovative tools being used. One of those is to detect the speed of the player. It comes as no surprise that Imran Tahir has been caught running very fast after taking the wicket. After having picked one of the Sri Lankan wickets in the match, Tahir ran off at a speed of 24 kmph. Well, by all human standars, that is quite some speed!

While Tahir is expected to be breaking records with his wicket-taking spells, he surely is posing serious threats to the runners with his epic celebrations. In all acceptance, the audiences simply love the way he celebrates.
