CT 2017, Match 7: Par scores and targets for Pakistan
Pakistan started off their innings in an aggressive way with the debutant Fakhar Zaman scoring 31 in just 23 balls.
After a dismal performance against India, Pakistan came out strong in their second match of the Champions Trophy where they face South Africa. Their bowlers put up their best exactly what they failed to do against India and restricted the South Africans to just 219/9, which could have been even better if not for a matured innings from David Miller.
After electing to bat, the Proteas got a slightly quicker start than against Sri Lanka but the last match’s centurion Hashim Amla was trapped in front by Imad Wasim in the 9th over. Umpire S Ravi delayed South Africa’s 2nd wicket as Mohammad Hafeez trapped Quinton de Kock in front in 12th over but the Umpire didn’t give it out. However, in his very next over, Hafeez repeated the same to send back de Kock.
AB de Villiers, who came out with great expectations over him, hit the first ball he faced straight into hands of the point fielder to bag his first ever golden duck in the ODI cricket. The young right-arm pacer Hasan Ali broke down South Africa further as he claimed the wickets of Faf du Plessis, JP Duminy and Wayne Parnell in an exceptional spell of bowling to reduce the opposition to 118/6.
However, Miller, who came out to bat after ABD’s wicket, held the things on the other end with a crucial 7th wicket stand with Chris Morris. After putting on 47 runs, Morris holed out in the 43rd over but KagisoRabada had a useful contribution to make to the team’s total with a 48-run stand coming in just 39 balls. Rabada was dismissed in the penultimate over after scoring 26 off 24 balls but Miller stood there till the last ball and finished the innings with a four. He remained unbeaten on 75 off 104 balls by hitting 3 sixes.
Pakistan started off their innings with aggressive intent as debutant Fakhar Zaman scored 31 in just 23 balls. However, both Azhar Ali and Zaman were dismissed by Morne Morkel in the same over to turn the contest towards an interesting phase. It is raining and is expected to last long while the Pakistan total is safely ahead of the required target at 119/3 in 27 overs.
