Out-of-favor former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has asked the Pakistani team to be bold in their approach as they head into marquee clash against India in the Champions Trophy 2017. The build-up to the epic clash has been immense. The pundits have been talking about the key encounter which will be played at Birmingham. While the forecasts for the match is not very good at the moment, the teams are pumped up for it nevertheless.
As per the quotes in the DNA India, Salman Butt remarked that the team which deals with pressure better shall emerge victorious. He has urged his Pakistan countrymen to take less pressure as they head into the big game. He added that often the players end up losing their concentration when they take too much of pressure. Pakistan should take pride in the fact that they have a better head-to-head record.
“The pressure in the game against India always makes players lose their concentration, but the players need to keep in mind that Pakistan has the superior head-to-head record against India,” quoted Salman Butt.
“They should not take any kind of pressure. Instead, they should just enjoy the game and play like they normally do. There is, of course, added pressure since the entire world is watching but they must know that all of Pakistan is behind them,” he added further.
On getting the winning momentum
Adding further, he conceded that a win against India will do a world of good to the men in green. It will mean that they will have great confidence going into their remaining fixtures in the tournament. He went on to say that the match against South Africa will be a tougher one for Pakistan.
“If they manage to get a good start by winning against India, then that will boost them mentally for their next matches. If you compare the teams, then the match against South Africa is actually the tougher one,” he conceded.
