Team India is in England and currently gearing up for the Test series though it is a territory they’ve hardly found success in, it is widely believed that Virat Kohli’s men have the best chance of winning a Test series on English soil this time around. England are playing at home and it gives them a natural advantage, however, the impact of the English summer on the pitches could make things even. The quality of players in the Indian team led by someone like Kohli makes South African fast bowler Dale Steyn feel that there’s nothing out of their reach on the cricket field.
Kohli, since the time he took over as captain, has emphasized on winning – and winning overseas. After a charged up performance on the tour of South Africa where they lost the series 2-1 and were close in the games that didn’t go their way, the No.1 ranked Test team is expected to put up a much better show in England this time. Steyn thinks he knows Virat and based on his understanding, the Indian captain will make sure it is a hard-fought five-match Test series.
Time to tighten the screws
“With the team being led by Virat, the Indians are capable of anything. I know Virat pretty well and he is a very determined character. The five-Test series is going to be good for one team. If one team is on a roll, the other might just be blown away. By the third Test, they might not even rock up for the fourth and fifth. If I know Virat like I think I do, it’s going to be a hard fought five Test matches.” Steyn was quoted as saying by mid-day.com.
That said, he still backs the skill in the English bowling line-up and that he thinks will create a difference between the two teams. Styen if he has to put his money on will bet on the home team to win the series.
“India are becoming a very good touring team but if I have to put my money, it’ll be England. The England bowlers are a little more skilled than the Indians and that’s where the difference will be. It’s the tipping point.” Steyn added.
