South Africa’s fast bowler Dale Steyn has recovered from the shoulder injury and will be available for the series against India, starting early next year. The speedster suffered the blow against Australia in Perth last year. Steyn was instrumental in South Africa’s impressive outing against India at home, four years back. And he will once again look to get the better of the likes of Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara.
Dr. Shuaib Manjra, the head of Cricket South Africa medical committee, said that both Steyn and Morne Morkel will be fit for the home series against the Indian side. Morkel has been sidelined after complaining of a side strain in October.
Steyn show to haunt India
“Steyn has started playing. He played three games for the Titans in our domestic T20 competition. We are resting him for a while so that he can come back and play international cricket. His injury is virtually over and he is ready to play. At the moment, we want to ensure that he is not over-bowling and coming back too much, too soon. Steyn will probably come back and bowl in the knockout stages of the T20 competition,” he told Sportstar.
“Morne still has the injury but he should be back to playing in the first week of December. All of our bowlers should be ready before India gets here. Don’t be too happy about it,” Dr. Manjra sent out a warning.
The pacer battery set to comeback
Vernon Philander and Chris Morris were cooling their feet due to back injuries since July, but they too will be back in action.“Vernon is bowling, Wayne Parnell is coming back to bowl and Morris is close to coming back to bowl as well. Morkel and Steyn will surely be available for selection for the India series,” he reiterated.
