Dale Steyn recollects his delivery to Sachin Tendulkar

The third Test of Australia’s tour of South Africa is currently taking place, however, South Africa is missing their prime speedster in Dale Steyn who hasn’t had an overwhelming phase as far as fitness is concerned. He made his comeback in the opening Test against India at the SuperSport Park in Cape Town, however, was ruled out owing to a tear in tissue in his left heel.

However, he didn’t miss the opportunity of cheering his team on the ground at Port Elizabeth. Moreover, during the lunch break, he spoke to cricket commentator Mike Haysman and spoke about his career and his future endeavours. He also reminisced an incident during the third Test of India’s tour of South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Cape Town.

The bad luck for Dale Steyn

India had recovered a couple of early jolts through a century-partnership between Gautam Gambhir and Sachin Tendulkar. The Master Blaster was one run short of a gritty half-century. However, Steyn dished out a peach of the delivery. Tendulkar poked at it tentatively and got a thick outside-edge. However, the umpires didn’t give him out.

Nevertheless, replays and the Snicometer showed a spike when the ball passed the bat. There was no Decision Review System (DRS) in the tournament, which saved Tendulkar. South Africa went on to pay a heavy price as Tendulkar added 97 more runs to his tally and eventually scored 146 runs, which included seventeen boundaries and a couple of monstrous hits over the ropes.

Nevertheless, Steyn didn’t allow the disappointment to unnerve him. Rather, he stormed back and ripped apart India’s lower order with a five-wicket haul. Meanwhile, he also emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the series with 21 wickets in three matches. Tendulkar was eventually cleaned up by a back-of-a-length from Morne Morkel, who is currently playing his penultimate Test match.
