Australian all-rounder Dan Christian has captained the county side Nottinghamshire to a 22-run victory over Warwickshire in a fierce battle to claim the NatWest T20 Blast title. The swashbuckling all-rounder scored crucial 24 runs towards the end of the innings, a vital knock from eight deliveries to lead his side to a total of 190 for the loss of four wickets at the end of the innings.
Samit-Taylor reconstruct the innings
Earlier to the knock from the right-handed batsman, it was the pair of Samit Patel and Brendon Taylor, who struck gold on the pitch. The Zimbabwean scored a 49-ball 65 while the Englishman quietly went about his business with a knock of 64 off 42 balls. While the duo led the side throughout the middle overs of the innings, it was Christian’s willow which provided the momentum to lead the side to a total of 180 after getting 20 runs off the last over.
The chase was on from the very first ball, with the Warwickshire batsmen going all out to win the match. However, the innings got derailed at several junctures during the innings which led to the downfall of the chasing side, who managed to muster 168 as a reply in the 20 overs with eight wickets down. The Australian all-rounder picked up a solitary wicket, with a slightly expensive spell of 1/43 in the four overs he bowled.

The special gift
The 34-year-old went on to praise the duo before him, who brought up the firepower during the middle overs of the innings which led the Australian to go all guns blazing in the end overs.
“That partnership between Brendan Taylor and Samit really set it up for us,” he said.
“Not getting off to the start we would have liked, they built a great platform for us, and we were able to get up to a pretty good score. We’ve genuinely had someone stand up for us and get us to a good score, or chase down whatever we’ve needed to chase,” he added.
“Samit Patel and Brendan Taylor were great for us and they’ve been fantastic all year.” said the 34-year-old after winning the English T20 title.
However, everything did not end well for the Australian, who had to take a knock after the lady who presented the trophy knocked him while giving him the trophy in a funny incident.
