The skipper of South Africa Women’s team Dane van Niekerk has praised the Indian skipper Virat Kohli for his captaincy skills. Kohli smashed his 50th international century on the 5th day of the first of the three Test matches against Sri Lanka. Moreover, he set up the game for his team which gave the bowlers a shot at the visitors in the final session. However, Niekerk is impressed with the way he led from the front by not prioritising the personal milestones.
The 29-year-old was constantly looking towards the dressing room and ask the head coach Ravi Shastri about the declaration. Even when he was in the 90s, he asked Shastri if he can play one more over in which he reached the milestone. He shifted gears so swiftly after reaching his half-century, it put India in a dominating position quickly. At one stage, it seemed that the hosts were looking to save the game. But the skipper’s knock brought them with the touching distance of victory.
Niekerk’s tweet for Virat
The captain’s knock of Virat Kohli has visibly influenced Dane van Niekerk who led her side to the semi-final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup earlier this year. She took to the microblogging website Twitter to let her followers know that she was impressed with Kohli. Her message for him read, “Still think @imVkohli is one amazing captain. So much criticism regarding the match. As a captain you never think about yourself. Always what’s best for the team. #anotherlivinglegend.”

Virat is setting new standards with his captaincy and most importantly he walks the talk. His aggression has rubbed on the shoulders of his teammates and it was on display in the last session of the final day. He is yet to lose a series across formats and would love to continue the same record overseas as well.
