Sydney Sixers have earned a place in yet another Big Bash League (BBL) final and are just one step away from clinching their third title on the trot. Having lifted the title four times before, the Sixers are already the most successful BBL team but they would be determined to add one more trophy in their cabinet. However, the side is going through a torrid time off-the-field and collecting 11 players for the summit clash would be a potent task for them.

In the Challenger encounter against Adelaide Strikers on Wednesday (January 26), Sixers were forced to play assistant coach Jay Lenton in the team due to the unavailability of players due to Covid-19. Although the Moises Henriques-led team managed a four-wicket win that clash, they would want a better line-up for the final game against Perth Scorchers on Friday (January 28).

Daniel Christian determined to form a potent line-up

Highlighting the same issue, veteran all-rounder Daniel Christian posted a cheeky tweet on Thursday, calling for players who can join Sixers for the final game. The 38-year-old demanded cricketers who are not infected with COVID-19 and fit to play. He also offered free beer as a reward.

“Shout out to anyone* in Melbourne that wants a game of cricket tomorrow night. My team is struggling to get 11 covid free, fit players on the park. Warm-up starts at 6.30pm at Marvel Stadium. Free beer afterwards, potentially out of a large cup. DM if keen. *no test cricketers,” wrote Christian.

The comment section got flooded in no time with fans coming up with hilarious reactions. Christian’ former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate AB de Villiers and England pacer Jofra Archer also reacted, jokingly throwing their hats to play the final game. De Villiers kept a condition that he wants to bowl his quota of four overs. “I’m keen if u can guarantee me my 4 overs?” the former South African captain tweeted.

On the other hand, the England cricketer, who’s recovering from an injury nowadays, seemingly offered his services as a substitute player. “Do I have to pay subs?” replied the speedster. Meanwhile, the final clash takes place at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne and Scorchers would take the field as favorites with many Sixers players being unavailable.
