Alastair Cook is playing the final Test match of his illustrious international career at the Kennington Oval. England skipper won the toss for the fifth consecutive time in this series and opted to bat on a flat pitch. The left-handed opener walked out to bat to a rousing applause from the crowd even as Team India gave him a guard of honour with the captain Virat Kohli shaking hands with him and giving him the respect which he thoroughly deserves. Meanwhile, Danielle Wyatt has predicted that the veteran will score a ton in this innings.

Cook has been struggling with the bat for a long time now and finally, after the fourth Test where he couldn’t muster runs again, he decided to hang his boots after the conclusion of the ongoing series. The cricketing fraternity poured in their tribute to the legendary cricketer and felt that this was a right time to pass over the baton. However, many also backed him to score a century in his farewell game and bow out on a high.

Cook looking confident

The opening duo of Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings walked out to bat in London as the sunny morning welcomed them. The former looked assured from the word go and apart from a couple of plays and misses in the first over of the match, he didn’t look troubled at all. Both the openers were at ease with not much help for the bowlers and also stitched their first fifty-plus stand of the series.

The way Cook is batting at the moment, there is a possibility that he might go on and score his 33rd Test on. Though he is still batting on 34 and the milestone is a long way away. However, England woman cricketer Danielle Wyatt is confident that ‘The Chef’ (aka Cook) will go on to score a fairytale century in his last Test.

Whatever he does in this game, Cook will end his career as the best ever opener for England in the longest format of the game.
