A wonderfully compiled 82 off 51 balls from Virat Kohli ensured that the Indians did indeed make it to the subsequent stages of the World T20. However, they did so at the expense of a resolute Australian unit led by the irresistible Steve Smith. While the Indians clawed their way into the semifinals of the tournament, they brought an end to the dream and the career of one Shane Watson.

The impressive result for the Indians prompted Aussie coach Darren Lehmann to underline the fact that India will be the ones to lift the title. No one was more disappointed when Australia was knocked out of the World T20 2016 than Darren Lehmann. The latter also added that he couldn’t see them losing, after all, they have been through in the tournament.

“I can’t see them losing, that’s my personal opinion,” Lehmann was quoted as saying

Lehmann, who was a prominent part of the Australian side that triumphed in 1999 and 2003 went on to say that the victor of the tie would definitely go a long way in the World T20.

“I think whoever won [between Australia and India] would go a long way in the tournament … everyone thinks that around the world,” added the Australia coach.

The recent past hasn’t looked all that great for Darren Lehmann as he was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis. Despite recovering from the medical disorder, Lehmann has also lost his trusted assistants Michael Di Venuto and Craig McDermott. The latter left his post as bowling coach following the India-Australia match.

Speaking about the future, Lehmann said that he didn’t see himself coaching the side beyond 2019. He also mentioned that he had ‘unfinished’ business in terms of winning the Ashes and bringing the urn back to Australian soil. He also stated that 2019 World Cup was also something he was mulling in the back of his mind.
