Team Australia head coach appeared absolutely miffed at English batsman Kevin Pietersen. The wrath of Lehmann was seen on the social media where he expressed that the batsman must be left out from next BBL season. He advised the Melbourne Stars to leave him out from their roster from the next edition of the T20 league. He went on to add that Kevin Pietersen is certainly being overpaid by the BBL.

The annoyed tweet from Darren Lehmann came soon after Melbourne Stars lost the semi-final match against the Perth Scorchers. Much like every other Stars fan, Lehmann wanted Pietersen to step up to the occasion when the team needed him the most. In the semi-final clash, KP was a victim of Mitchell Johnson’s triple strike.

He departed on 5 off 10 balls to leave Stars reeling 21/3. Earlier in the innings, Johnson had removed Rob Quiney and Luke Wright in the very first over to bring KP at the crease. The hopes of Stars relied on KP but in vain. Darren Lehmann also slammed the nature of Kevin Pietersen to give excuses every now and then.

In his tweet, Lehmann wrote, “@KP24 @tensporttv @BBL time for stars to move KP on ,spent to much money on him and didn’t win. Don’t want to listen to his excuses anymore.”

Interestingly, Kevin Pietersen has been the leading run scorer for Melbourne Stars in the history of the tournament. He ended as the leading run-getter for the Stars this season, was the third leading run scorer in last season, and second leading run-getter in BBL4. He is second in the list of leading run-scorers in the history of BBL after Chris Lynn.

KP has a reputation of being brash and bold in his statements. He has often been speaking his mouth out without considering too much about the consequences. Perhaps this could be the reason that he does not go down well with most of the people.

Earlier, he had expressed his disbelief at Marcus Stoinis not being eligible to play for Stars since he was with the national squad despite not being a part of the starting eleven. “I just find it bitterly disappointing that a guy can’t play in a fixture for us, which is a big fixture for us, when he’s sitting in a hotel room,” Pietersen had said.
