Darren Sammy heaps praises on Pakistan speedster Hasan Ali
Ever since his debut in 2016, Ali has evolved into a deadly arsenal in the Pakistan line-up.
While Pakistan’s horror show against New Zealand came as shocking, the only positive from the tour was the promise and potential of 24-year-old seamer Hasan Ali. A spearhead in Pakistan’s bowling attack Hasana Ali boasts of a simple bowling action with a blend of variations up his sleeves. The 5th ranked bowler in ICC ODI rankings, Hasan Ali did everything right to earn the spot. Ever since his debut in 2016, Ali has evolved into a deadly arsenal in the Pakistan line-up.
He played an integral role in the finals of the CT 2017 to help Pakistan lift the trophy for the first time. 62 wickets in 30 matches with 3 five-wicket haul, the statistics are not enough to describe the impact Ali has on the field.
In the upcoming season of PSL as well, the speedster who will be representing defending champions Peshawar Zalmi looks eager to make his mark. Lauding his efforts, two times T20 World Cup winner and the current leader of the Peshawar Zalmi franchise, Darren Sammy feels Ali’s addition will be clinical to the team setup.
According to the business recorder, the Carribean cricketer heaped praises on Ali and said, “He backs himself; he won the great moments, he wants to be the guy that wins it for the team, when you have that kind of mentality and confidence that means you fear nothing.”
He added, “He could pass as a West Indian, the flair he has, you know the excitement he brings, and his celebration is something special. I must commend Muhammad Akram, since Hasan started in the first season, but Mohammad Akram always said that this kid is special, and look we have seen what he’s done.”
Hasan Ali doubtful for initial PSL matches
Hasan Ali however, remains doubtful for the first few matches of PSL 2018 due to an ankle injury he sustained during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand. An official said, Hasan is yet to fully recover from the injury and is likely to sit out the first three or four matches of Peshawar Zalmi. In the interim, the Zalmi management has recruited the first-class cricketer Umaid Asif as cover for the injured bowler.
