West Indies T20 skipper Darren Sammy has expressed shock over the inclusion of Kieron Pollard as well as Sunil Narine in the West Indies squad ahead of the tri-series to be held in the Caribbean in early June. Other stars such as Dwayne Bravo and Chris Gayle also took to twitter to showcase their flabbergast towards the selection of these two players.

Darren Sammy began the tweeting by firstly congratulating Pollard on his inclusion in the side. However, this was followed up with a question asking Pollard how he got into the side having not played an ODI since 2014. Narine also hasn’t featured in any ODIs the West Indies have played since November 2015 after having been suspended for a suspect action.

Sammy’s tweet read: “@KieronPollard55 great to see u back in the odi team but tell me how did u qualify for selection having not played the super50 or ODI since 2014.”

Sammy’s tweet was followed up with a tweet from Jamaican mauler Chris Gayle. His tweet read: “@KieronPollard55 & #SunilNarine selected for WI Tri-Series. How is that possible @westindies ? …” A follow-up a tweet from Gayle read: “WICB stop Sunil from playing super 50 and now they pick him.”

Pollard played his last One Day International in the fall of 2014 against the Indians under the captaincy of all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. The Windies subsequently abandoned the tour following pay and contract disputes with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

The WICB weren’t spared by Dwayne Bravo who subsequently went on to call the decision ‘magic’. His tweet read: “Joke of the day: WI selectors. One minute Pollard & Narine were not good enough & now are perfect for Tri-Nation series? It’s like magic!”

“One minute we have to be available for domestic super 50 to be selected and the next minute, it seems we don’t. Magic! Get serious people!”

Narine was earlier prevented from playing the domestic tournament in the West Indies popularly known as the ‘Super 50’ due to his illegal bowling action.
