Oh Daryl Mitchell! He will be the toast of the whole of New Zealand today. New Zealand looked as if they were down and out. But then, Mitchell just did not quit. He stayed till the end, fought like a warrior, and helped New Zealand book their spot in the final, as the Kiwis beat England with 5 wickets and 6 balls to spare.
Chasing a challenging target of 167 set by the England side, the Kiwis were reduced to 13/2, with two of their experienced batters, Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson dismissed for single-digit scores.
Daryl Mitchell and Devon Conway then indulged in rebuilding the innings and put on a partnership of 82 runs for the third wicket. But then, just when New Zealand were clawing their way back into the match, Conway was dismissed by Liam Livingstone for 46. However, that did not hamper the New Zealand side, as Mitchell and James Neesham indulged in a savage assault to swing the match in favour of the Kiwis.
Daryl Michell top-scored for New Zealand with a 47-ball 72*, while Neesham scored 27 off just 11 deliveries. With the ball, Liam Livingstone and Chris Woakes scalped 2 wickets each for the England side.
Moeen Ali’s half-century propels England to 166/4
Moeen Ali and Dawid Malan were the catalysts of the England side with the willow in hand. Batting first, England were reduced to 53/2 after 8.1 overs, and that was when Dawid Malan and Moeen Ali came together and forged a superb 63-run stand for the third wicket.
While Malan scored 41 off 30 deliveries, Ali scored a superb 37-ball 51, as England posted a total of 166/4 on the board. Apart from Malan and Ali, Jos Buttler also chipped in with 29 at the top of the order.
With the ball, the likes of Tim Southee, Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi, and James Neesham scalped a solitary wicket each. And with this win, New Zealand are one step away from winning their first T20 World Cup trophy.

I just don't see how an umpire can give the soft signal as "out" for a boundary catch which is anything up to 85 metres away from the middle! @T20WorldCup #ENGvNZ

Brilliant stuff from @BLACKCAPS. They have qualified for the final in all 3 @ICC events: 2019 WC, 2021 WTC, & now #T20Worldcup.
And please don't call this as NZ punching above their weight etc, it would be a disservice to this team that is as good if not better than most. #ENGvNZ— Wasim Jaffer (@WasimJaffer14) November 10, 2021
