David Miller, the Proteas batsman, will be in the Glamorgan ranks ahead of their quarter-final match against Leicestershire in the NatWest T20 Blast on Wednesday (August 23). The left-hander was named in the 14-man squad announced for the match. Miller had made his debut for Glamorgan earlier this season.

The 28-year-old had to leave the side mid-season as he was selected for South Africa A side that faced India A at home and until yesterday, was playing the match. The Test series between the two sides ended in a draw at 1-1. He rejoined the squad earlier this morning through an overnight flight.

Miller in this season of T20 Blast

The attacking left-hander was adjudged Man of the Match in his debut game having scored a superlative half century. He went on to play three more games for Glamorgan. Miller has so far scored 117 runs this season at an impressive average of 58.50 and an amazing strike rate of 150.

Glamorgan have surely been boosted with his return as he can come down the order and score some important runs for the side. Miller could also become a surprise package for the opposition that boasts of the likes of Shahid Afridi who opened and tore apart the bowling of Derbyshire from the word go.

To earn a place in the quarter-final they topped the South Group with 7 wins and 18 points from 14 matches. The club has reached the home quarter-final for the second consecutive year and will look to do better than last time when they lost to Yorkshire at the same stage of the competition.

Though Miller has joined the team, his place in the side is still in question. Glamorgan looks a settled side with Colin Ingram, Jacques Rudolph, Donald and Cooke contributing consistently to the team’s cause. It will be a huge risk disturbing the winning combination but the player of Miller’s calibre cannot be benched in such a big knockout game.
