David Warner delighted to be in Kolkata
Warner looked good in the first ODI before he was snapped by Kuldeep Yadav.
David Warner is one of the most popular Australian cricketers in India purely due to his aggressive style of batting and his IPL exploits. He plays for the Sunrisers Hyderabad and is a regular feature in the T20 league since 2009. The left-hander also led Hyderabad to a maiden title win in 2016.
Warner is in India playing for his country in the limited overs series tour. Australians lost the first game by 26 runs in Chennai and are already in Kolkata, the venue for the second game of the series. The opener last played in this city during the IPL and was glad to be back. He posted a picture on his Twitter account of an under construction site of a 5-star hotel named ITC Kolkata. The southpaw was surprised to see the progress of the site in the last four months.
There is a hotel right next to the upcoming property where the visiting teams reside during games. Smith’s boys are currently staying at that particular hotel and it won’t be long before cricketers start staying in the iconic ITC site as it is due for completion on April 1, 2018.
Australia banking on Warner in ODI series
Warner got a start in the first game but couldn’t build on it as he was foxed by chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav for 25. The 30-year old is a crucial cog in the batting unit of the visiting team and will be hoping to use all his experience of playing in India to use in the upcoming games.
Rain reduced the game to a 21-over chase for the visitors. The target of 164 looked very gettable but the Indian bowlers bowled well up front and picked wickets regularly to dent Australia’s chances. The Men in Yellow need to put a better show at the Eden Gardens on Thursday in order to comeback into the series.
