The long and humiliating away series against Virat Kohlis India is all over now, and the Australian team finally has got the time to unwind. But they don’t have time to go into hibernation, as the fans are already super-excited for one of the most fierce rivalries in the history of the beautiful game of cricket, if not the fiercest, the Ashes series.

The Test series contested between two cricketing giants, England and Australia, is watched by millions of supporters all over the world. The gentleman’s game might fail to justify it’s precious tag during this series, as the cricketers often fail to comprehend that there’s a borderline. What follows is riveting action of cricket, with 22 men giving their best to glorify their nation. Hence, Australian opener David Warner has come to the conclusion that a series like Ashes can be compared with a war.

“As soon as you step on that line, it’s war. You try to get in a battle as quick as you can. I try to look in the opposition’s eyes and work out, how can I dislike this player, how can I get on top of him? You have to delve and dig deep into yourself to actually get some hatred about them when you get out there. History is a big part in this, and that’s what carries us on to the ground,” said the batsman while speaking to Australian Broadcasting Corporation on Sunday (October 15).

Referring to his ‘infamous’ comment that England had scared eyes while facing Australian pace attack during the first Ashes 2013 Test at Brisbane, the 27-year old said, “Four years ago, during that first Test, I made some statements in the media, and at the time I thought it was a great thing to come out and speak what I said. I have no regrets about that, and I think it could have played a little bit of a role in the back of their minds.”

England must expect some words

Warner has clearly warned the English cricketers that he will save the words filled with fury for 23rd November when the Aussies will be looking forward to annihilating Joe Root’s men at The Gabba in Brisbane.

“At the moment I’m not going to put any vibes out there or get involved in a verbal stoush, but come day one in Brisbane, there will definitely be some words exchanged,” the dynamite from New South Wales concluded.
