Ever since their introduction to the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has got their hands on the trophy only once in 2016. In that year, they beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the final under the leadership of David Warner. Moreover, along with Chris Gayle, Warner is the only other player to have won the Orange Cap as many as twice.
The left-hander opens the batting and has scripted a number of victories for his IPL franchise. However, the New South Wales-born player wasn’t around last time around as he was barred from playing the tournament following the one-year-ban meted out to him by Cricket Australia (CA) after his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal in the Cape Town Test in South Africa.
The whole team enjoys with him
In the meantime, Deepak Hooda, the talented SRH all-rounder, mentioned that there are positive vibes when Warner is around and it boosts the morale of the team. Hooda, who recently played for Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy, also spoke highly about New Zealander Kane Williamson, who took the team to the final in the 2018 edition of the T20 tournament.
“David Warner, obviously, has always been an inspiration for the team. His attitude has always been to lead from the front. The whole team enjoys with him and feels more confident. When an international player of his stature comes into the team it boosts the morale of the rest of the players as well,” Hooda was quoted as saying in India Today.
“Kane Williamson, as well all know, is one of the best captains at the international level as well, he leads the New Zealand team. There is no doubt he is an outstanding captain. Even last year, we played the final under him. He spoke to the bowlers constantly, guided them in the death overs and made the correct field changes. All these small things matter a lot,” Hooda added.
