David Warner once had a huge fight with Vijay Mallya's son Siddharth Mallya during the IPL
David Warner and controversies used to walk hand in hand during the early days of his career.
The BCCI has removed Sanjay Manjrekar from its commentary panel which the latter has acknowledged as well. While the Indian board hasn’t given any reasons for the same, a few other incidents related to commentators and the foreign players have come to light now which went unnoticed previously. And none other than Australia‘s former vice-captain David Warner is at the centre of it.
Warner has redeemed himself after the 12-month ban for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal. However, prior to it, he was known as the ‘bad boy’ in the team. The southpaw’s behaviour on and off the field always used to come under the scanner and the situation was the same in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.
If a report in the Mumbai Mirror is to be believed, David Warner was known to fight with the people in an inebriated condition more often than not.
Incident took place when Vijay Mallya was still the owner of the RCB
Rather, the further added that the 33-year-old had one a huge fight with the then RCB owner Vijay Mallya’s son Siddharth Mallya. The fact that the Mallyas were still linked with the high profile franchise makes it clear that the incident dates back to around 2012-13. Moreover, it also raises the question over how the incident went unnoticed and why the BCCI didn’t take any action against the cricketer.
Meanwhile, as far as David Warner is concerned, he has enjoyed his stint in the IPL while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He also won the coveted trophy for the franchise when he was the leader of the pack in 2016. Unfortunately, the left-hander had to miss the 2018 season after he was banned by Cricket Australia for his involvement in the infamous ball-tampering scandal.
However, since his return to competitive cricket post the ban, Warner embraced the new Australian culture and has concentrated on his game making his bat talk. But the fact that he was one of the bad boys of the game leads to such old incidents coming up every now and then.
