'David Warner partied more than believing in practice, we sent him back' - Virender Sehwag makes massive revelation

David Warner is one of the finest batters in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and his numbers speak volumes of his prowess. The Australian southpaw belongs to a rare breed of batters who can score quick runs and that too with astonishing consistency. He has been sensational in the ongoing IPL 2022 as well and Delhi Capitals would be mighty pleased with his performance.

While Warner is well-versed with the drill of the IPL now, the case wasn’t the same back in the day. The Australian dasher made his IPL debut for DC (then Delhi Daredevils) in 2009 and he wasn’t among a lot of runs that season. Former Indian and DC opener Virender Sehwag has revealed that Warner was struggling with discipline that season and gave a hard time to the team management.

Sehwag also revealed that Warner fought with a couple of fellow DC players and was sent home. “I too have vented out my frustrations on a couple of players and David Warner was one of them. Because when he had joined newly, he partied more than believing in practice or playing matches. In the first year, he had a fight with a few players so we sent him back for the last two matches,” said Sehwag on Cricbuzz.

“Sometimes it happens that you keep someone out to teach them a lesson. He was new so it was important to show him that you alone are not important for the team, others are too. There are other players who can play and win the match for the team too. And that’s what happened. We kept him out of the team and won as well,” he added.

Notably, Warner was involved in a massive controversy last year as the Sunrisers Hyderabad team management sacked him as captain midway through the season, handing over the reins to Kane Williamson. The opener was even dropped from the playing XI and SRH faced massive backlash due to the same. Nonetheless, the 35-year-old is now back in the DC camp and is making his bat talk.
