David Warner picks his all-time IPL XI
David Warner was all set to lead SRH in IPL 2020 that got postponed for an indefinite period.
In the lockdown, the cricketers are following a trend of giving out their preferred XIs based on different scenarios across different formats and leagues. Earlier, Shane Warne, Ashton Agar, Azhar Ali gave their XIs. Now, David Warner also joined the bandwagon, who gave his all-time IPL XI in his recent interaction with cricket commentator and analyst Harsha Bhogle.
The 33-year-old Aussie opener plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the cash-rich league. He is one of the finest batsmen in IPL, who is a three-time orange cap winner (2015, 2017 and 2019). He was all set to lead SRH in IPL 2020 that BCCI postponed for an indefinite period amid Coronavirus outbreak. Moreover, there are no further updates if the tournament will be organized in the ongoing year or not. However, looking forward to the conditions, the chances of it getting organized are quite slim.
David Warner misses out on some fine bowlers while picking his all-time IPL XI
In a recent interaction with Harsha Bhogle for Cricbuzz, David Warner discussed several cricketing topics and even gave his all-time IPL XI. He picked himself along with Rohit Sharma as the preferred set of openers with Virat Kohli at number three position.
He included Suresh Raina, the CSK stalwart at fourth position followed by hard-hitting all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Glenn Maxwell at fifth and sixth respectively. The Southpaw picked MS Dhoni as his favourite choice for the wicketkeeper-batsman slot in the team.
Warner didn’t compromise in his fast bowling attack and selected a lethal bowling trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell Starc and Ashish Nehra. In the end, he had an option to pick only one spinner and got confused to pick between his favourite Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Interestingly, Warner included Starc in his XI, who has not played enough IPL games to be reckoned as one of the finest bowlers in the cash-rich league. There is a long list of many other bowlers in IPL, who have better records as well as experience in comparison to the Aussie speedster.
David Warner’s All-Time IPL XI Squad: David Warner, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Hardik Pandya, Glenn Maxwell, MS Dhoni, Mitchell Starc, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashish Nehra, Kuldeep Yadav/Yuzvendra Chahal.
