David Warner wins hearts at SCG by gifting young fans his helmet and gloves

David Warner is a changed man. While he is still the run-scoring machine as he was in the past, he is no longer that ‘in your face’ cricketer, one who was hell-bent on picking up a fight in the past. The Newlands ball-tampering scandal turned out to be an inflection point in the southpaw’s career.
The incident not only proceeded to take 12 months out of his international career but it also led to a whirlwind criticism for his antics as well as on-field behaviour in general. Many feared that the southpaw will never play for Australia again. Even Warner himself thought the same at that time.
But, as they say, adversity brings out a beast in a champion. And, Warner is a champion. Not only did he make his comeback in the side after the expiration of the ban, but the swashbuckling opener has also been winning over a lot of fans with not only his performances but also with his heartwarming gestures.
Another heartwarming gesture of David Warner was on full show on the fourth day of the SCG Test. The video, where Warner can be seen handing his gloves and helmet to the children as he walked off to the pavilion, was shared by the CEO of Cricket Australia Kevin Roberts.
Roberts took to Twitter where he wrote, “A cricket fan took this short video of @davidwarner31 inspiring the next generation at the SCG the other day. Dave also gave his helmet and gloves to children during the test match. They will remember these gestures forever. Well done Dave.”@CricketAus #GivingBack

Coming back to Warner’s on-field performances, the southpaw wound off the what has been a great summer of Test cricket for the former vice-captain with another imperious ton at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Overall, across the five home Tests, Warner racked up a colossal 786 runs at an average of 131 as the Aussies completed a 5-0 sweep of the Test summer.
