David Warner's ouster from the IPL was a loss for SRH: Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson seems to be enjoying his new role as the captain of SRH. In the absence of David Warner, he has even stepped up as a batsman which has been a relief for all the team as well as the fans. The Kiwi spoke about his team’s fantastic performance and Warner’s absence.

Every team is strong, so every game is tough

Williamson emphasized that he had been aiming for improvement every time and wanted to continue the trend. He was focused on taking small steps in the tournament. With every team in the IPL posing some kind of threat, he understands the level of challenge they have to face.

“It’s been improving and that’s what we want to continue. We want to continue that trend of improvement. Small steps forward rather than us looking for perfect performances. If you look at every team in the IPL, they are all very, very strong. All very strong with the local players and overseas players as well. So, every game is tough,” Kane said ahead of their match against Delhi Daredevils.

The former Australian vice-captain was the Orange Cap holder twice in the last three years. Even the year he missed out on the coveted award, Warner ended up as the second best. No doubt, SRH have been missing his powerful batting at the top order. However, the New Zealand skipper asserted that it was important to move on and use the available resources.

“It was a loss for our side. I guess from that point it was important that we were to look ahead and not to dwell on it and look at the group we have and try and play cricket as a team. That is something we are focused on and trying to do,” Williamson concluded.

He was further hopeful that fit again Bhuvneshwar Kumar will make it to the playing XI for the next game.
