England’s newly found left-arm pacer David Willey has become the latest player to name his best XI. The youngster is currently featuring as the leader of the England pace attack against Sri Lanka in the ongoing ENG v SL ODI series. With the fourth ODI set to commence on the 29th of June at the iconic Oval cricket ground, Willey took some time off to name his set of best players who he felt would comprise of the best XI possible.

As many greats have already picked, Willey has decided to go in with Chris Gayle and Sachin Tendulkar as his preferred opening combination. Apart from this being a right hand-left hand combination, Willey has stated that Chris Gayle’s destructive nature as a batsman is certainly something that makes him a part of the side.

David Willey was quoted saying, “So destructive up top. He is one of those players who can take the game away from you in a handful of balls. As a bowler, trying to work out your plans in the powerplay to someone like that, especially at a small ground, is a nightmare. Gayle can clear the biggest of boundaries.”

While most cricketers stayed away from the glam of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, the choice to pick the dream RCB batsmen was perhaps an easy decision for Willey. The other two slots in the middle order are filled by perhaps two of the greatest cricketers of all time. Kumar Sangakkara and Jacques Kallis. The wicketkeeper’s slot is occupied by Adam Gilchrist, certainly no surprises there.

For his bowling unit, Willey has decided to go in with a two seamers and two spinners combination. These include Wasim Akram, Shane Warne, Brett Lee, and Muttiah Muralitharan.
