England’s find of the recently concluded series against South Africa, Dawid Malan, came out and revealed that he seeks inspiration from Australian Adam Voges who was introduced late in his International cricket by the selectors. His statement came out in the aftermath of his sensational debut in the last match of the series.’

David Malan, 29, has been waiting for the opportunity to shine when it comes to the International stage. England already has one of the most destructive lineups in the world. With likes of Hales, Roy, Morgan, Stokes, Root, Buttler. England’s captain Eoin Morgan decided to pull out of the series decider in order to give an opportunity to Malan.

Similar scenario was prevelant when it came to the case of Adam Voges, who was introduced late in the Australian lineup. Since his debut in Test cricket, Voges hadn’t look back and holds the record for the second highest average in the form of cricket after the great Don Bradman.

Adam Voges provided Malan with important pointers

“I didn’t think this day would come,I actually had a chat about two-and-a-half months ago with Adam after the North v South (domestic) games which I contributed really well to. Then they (England) rested a few players for the Ireland matches. I spoke to Adam and said ‘Look, I don’t know what else I can do. I can only score so many runs in the games that I’m given’,” commented Dawid Malan according to Times of India

He gave me a few tips as he was in the same position with regards to Test cricket in Australia. He was a late bloomer so he told me what he did. Fortunately I was given another chance and I took it. You probably have your best years from 28 to 32 as a batsman,” further explained Malan.

“You start knowing your game, what your strengths and weaknesses are. So hopefully my best years are still ahead of me and I can get a few more opportunities to push for a regular place, I know that country very well and it means a hell of a lot to me, It’s given me my years at school and made me the guy that I am.” concluded the left hander.
