So, the list of players retained by the franchises ahead of the mega auctions has been revealed. The Delhi Capitals have retained 4 players, and the 4 of them will take a collective amount of INR 39 Crores, but INR 42.5 Crores will be deducted from their purse. As expected, the Delhi Capitals retained their skipper Rishabh Pant. And since the Delhi Capitals have retained 4 players, and Pant is the first retention, he will be paid a sum of INR 16 Crores.

Pant was in good form in IPL 2021 and plundered 419 runs at a strike rate of close to 130. He also led the Delhi Capitals in admirable fashion as well. After Pant, the next 3 retentions made by the Delhi Capitals side are Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw, and Anrich Nortje.

Shaw will get an amount of INR 7.5 Crores. Shaw was in explosive form in the 2021 IPL season and blasted 479 runs at a whopping strike rate of close to 160. While Patel will be paid a sum of INR 9 Crores, Nortje will draw a salary of INR 6.5 Crores.

Both Patel and Nortje were amongst the wickets in the 14th IPL season. While Patel scalped 15 wickets in the 12 matches that he played in IPL 2021, Nortje scalped 12 wickets in 8 matches at an excellent average of 15.58.

Delhi Capitals produced a superb performance in IPL 2021

The Delhi Capitals dished out a superb performance in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Rishabh Pant led outfit topped the league stages of the competition, winning 10 out of their 14 matches.

Delhi Capitals lost both the qualifier matches (Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2) and failed to make it to the final. Under their new skipper Rishabh Pant, the Delhi side displayed a sense of fearlessness and played an aggressive brand of cricket. And, we can expect the Delhi side to once again challenge the other teams in the 15th edition of the tournament as well.
